ABOUT YOUR HOSTS Hi there. We are Mike and Michelle Braden and we have been hosting guests from all over the world since 1999. Ironically, we also met in 1999 at a meeting for the Muskoka Bed & Breakfast Association. It was at this meeting that Mike noticed that all the other Muskoka B & B's were hosted by couples. Not wanting to be the odd one out, Mike decided to create his make-believe wife to co-host and help out at Braewood. Her name is Michelle (Mike en Francais) and to everyone's surprise, Michelle has become firmly rooted in the day to day activities at Braewood. She's wonderful and she does everything Mike asks her to do. However, she's still learning the ins and outs of hosting a B&B and sometimes she messes up - like the time she took a reservation, didn't realize we were full on that particular day and only discovered it when the guests showed up on arrival day...... or how about the time she dropped the main breakfast dish on the floor right in front of the guests as they were sitting down for breakfast. But Michelle is a doll to have around and our guests love her. Our guestbook is now full of comments directed her way her and she's most appreciative of everyone who acknowledges her existence. Mike has been coming to Muskoka for over 40 years and has been a resident for over 10 years. He designed and built Braewood with the help of family and friends. Prior to opening Braewood, Mike was involved in the business of windsurfing which, along with mountainbiking, are his passions. In the winter, when Braewood is closed, he heads south to the Dominican Republic and Cuba to stay warm and pursue his passions. And when he's not busy with the B & B in the summer he likes to venture further north with family and friends to go on wilderness canoe trips. Come share our relaxed and casual lifestyle by the lake and join Michelle and I on the deck in the late afternoon for some reasonably drinkable wine from the Braewood root cellar.
