ABOUT BRAEWOOD ON THE LAKE
Braewood is located in the heart of Muskoka, right on Lake Muskoka,
between Bracebridge and Port Carling just outside the small village of
Milford Bay. We designed and built this passive solar home to capture the
warmth of the sun in all seasons. Large uncluttered windows look out
over the lake and to the surrounding pine trees so even when inside the
house there is a feeling of being outside. Our home is spacious and
bright and has pine floors, a granite fireplace, a 3 season Muskoka porch
and an expansive two-tiered deck which was featured in Canadian Living
magazine. Be sure to view the virtual tour of Braewood on the Lake.
All three spacious guestrooms face the lake and have ensuite or private
bathrooms. You can hear the water lapping on the shore from your
window and at night you might even hear the magic calling of the Loons.
All the guestrooms are furnished with "Vieux Canadien" furniture which
we rescued from Mike's grandparents cottage. Click here for room descriptions.
Braewood's stunning deck is the highlight of our home and was featured in Canadian Living magazine. The panoramic view is stunning and it's not uncommon to see antique mahogany boats and the Segwun Steamship pass by just as they did 100 years ago. A short path winds through the
trees from the deck to the waters edge where you can laze in the hammock or walk out on the dock to swim, sun and relax.
You're welcome to use our canoe and kayak or bring your own boat (or rent one) and tie up to our dock. No visit to Muskoka is complete without getting out on the lake to see the magnificent cottages and boathouses that Muskoka has become famous for. We now offer our own boat tour on Lake Muskoka leaving right from our dock. We'll take you along the infamous Millionaires Row with it's stunning cottages and wind our way through the Seven Sister Islands. And since we're in a relatively small boat, we take you to places the big tour boats can't go.
Come share our relaxed and casual lifestyle by the lake and join us on
the deck in the late afternoon for some reasonably drinkable wine from
the Braewood root cellar.
