What is Caregivers Muskoka/Parry Sound?

We are dedicated to providing education, training, information and social/ emotional support to family members who provide care for someone (a child or adult) who is disabled, terminally or chronically ill, frail or elderly.  We are non-profit community organization, governed by volunteers, and funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.

 
 
 

How can we help you?

 Our Caregiver Services:

  • Education and discussion groups.  We would be pleased to help start a group in your community.
  • Linking one caregiver with another.
  • A 1-800 information line for you to call free of charge and in confidence to obtain information and talk to a friendly, understanding person.
  • Workshops on topics of interest to caregivers, such as self-care, understanding aging, communication, legal/financial issues, preparing for grief and loss, elder abuse, etc.
  • A regular newspaper column on caregiving issues.  Let us know if there is a topic you would like to read about.
  • A quarterly newsletter linking caregivers to share information and mutual concerns.  We welcome your contributions - news events, stories, and poetry about caregiving.
  • An information guide about community services of interest to caregivers in Muskoka and Parry Sound.
  • A growing lending library of books, articles, videos, and cassette tapes on topics of interest to caregivers.
  • Presentations to community groups about caregiving.
  • In-service presentations to professional caregivers to help them understand the complex issues of caregiving.
  • Working with many other community organizations to help you and your loved one.

We are continually developing new resources to help you manage our responsibility as a caregiver. Your ideas and suggestions are always welcome!
